Books- Maths, English, Science, Arts, Mental Health

Sadly, we bought books that weren’t used. I felt ‘not-the-best’ for spending money, time on researching which books to buy, and the books collected dust. The kids ended up to being disinterested, and I couldn’t coax them into doing it! Some books weren’t teaching materials. Some had weird things, like using cartoon to teach science?!

So, here I am sharing some books that we have used. Hoping, it will help another parent to lessen the struggle of choosing books. But then again, books that work for some kids may not work for other kids. Anyways. Here goes.

Maths- Jump Maths, from kg all the way to grade 8.

English Language Arts – Daily 6 trait writings, Wordly Wise, and Journal writing (future post on journal writing, in shaa Allah). Honestly Journal writing is the best for practicing writing and drawing.

Science- Allah created us. Allah created the first human, Adam (Alaihi wasallam). Quran is the only pure book, and all man written books can have mistakes.

As with most science books, beware of the evolution theory stuff.

Science kits, (future post, in shaa Allah), Big Fat Note Books for science, chemistry, biology, and other subjects is pretty good, it is for middle school and high school though.

Arts – Kids are natural artists and in my opinion no books are needed, I had few books just for ideas.

Mental Health books, Gratitude Journal – good for entire family.

That’s all for todays long post.

Below is an AI edited version of my post. I still like my own post.

Title: Books – Math, English, Science, Arts, Mental Health

We’ve bought so many books over the years—some helpful, but sadly, many that just didn’t get used. I felt a bit bad about spending time researching and money buying them, only to find the kids were uninterested (no matter how much I tried to encourage them), or realizing later that the books weren’t even proper teaching materials. Some were just plain weird—like trying to teach science through comic strips!

So, I’m sharing a few books that did work for us. Maybe this will help another parent avoid the struggle I went through. That said, every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another. Anyway, here goes:

Math

Jump Math – From kindergarten through grade 8. Simple, effective, and very structured.

English Language Arts

  • Daily 6-Trait Writing
  • Wordly Wise
  • Journal Writing (I’ll write more about this in a future post, in shaa Allah)
Honestly, journal writing has been the best for practicing writing—and even drawing.

Science

Start with the foundation: let the child know that Allah created us and that Adam (Alaihi wasallam) was the first human. The Qur’an is the only pure book—every other book, being man-made, can have mistakes.
Also, as with most science books, watch out for evolution content.
Some resources we liked:

  • Big Fat Notebooks (Science, Chemistry, Biology, etc.) – Great for middle and high school.
  • Science kits – I’ll share more on this in another post, in shaa Allah.

Arts

Kids are natural artists. Honestly, I don’t think you need any books. I had a few just for ideas, but free expression has worked best.

Mental Health

Gratitude Journals – A lovely tool for the whole family.

That’s all for today’s (long!) post. Hope it helps someone out there.
